In the summer of 1863, the people of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, endured unimaginable life-changing experiences during the 3-day battle. These tours tell the stories of the men and women of the town, their strength, resilience and courage, that inspire us today.

Memories of the Battle” ~

After the cannons were silent and the muskets were still, the Armies withdrew from Gettysburg, and the townspeople faced the aftermath of the Gettysburg Battle of 1863.

Come hear the long hidden stories of the citizens of Gettysburg as they coped with the losses of the Battle of Gettysburg. Many took wounded soldiers into their homes. Learn about the medical care of the times, and how surgeries and amputations were performed. And how those how did not survive were buried.

The Irish of Gettysburg” ~

Discover the men of the Irish Brigade, the Irish Gettysburg citizens who lived through the battle, and the Louisiana Tigers of the Confederacy, as your guide leads you through the back streets of Gettysburg and tells of the Irish experiences during the three-day battle.

Hear the inspiring tales of the Irish soldiers who served at Gettysburg during the Civil War.

The Women of Gettysburg” ~

These are the inspiring stories of sixteen women who lived through the Battle of Gettysburg – well-known and little-known.

Learn about the women who, without formal training in nursing, volunteered to do what they could for the Union and Confederate wounded in the makeshift field hospitals occupying every large building in Gettysburg.

  • Tickets – $12 each, plus tax

Tour Times ~

Tours take place from April to November, weather permitting. Tours are approximately 75 to 95 minutes long.

  • “Memories of the Battle” – 8 pm or by appointment
  • “The Irish of Gettysburg” – 6 pm or by appointment
  • “The Women of Gettysburg” – 6 pm or by appointment

Where We Meet ~

Tours leave from Unity Park, located at 37 Lefever Street, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The park is located at the corner of Lefever and Baltimore streets.
